Safety Advisory For Skaters
Protective Gear
Full Protective Gear (Helmet, Wrist, Elbow & Knee)
is strongly recommended. Curbs, uneven pavements, sharp
turns, short steep slopes, staircases, and debris often
cause unexpected trips and falls even for experienced
skaters.
Safety Lights
Safety Lights are essential for night skates. This is
especially important when crossing roads or skating on
open roads. It also helps other skaters to see you in
dark areas. Red lights with blinking modes should be mounted
to point backwards, while optional white or yellow lights
point forward. Any reflective strips or vests will also
help to protect you from on-coming traffic
D.I.Y. First Aid
Don't be surprised to get grazes, cuts or bruises from
unexpected falls. You are advised to bring simple first
aid items like self-adhesive bandages and antiseptic sprays.
This will allow you to quickly patch up and continue the
skate, so the minor injury won't spoil your fun. Protective
gears will help you avoid these injuries.
Torchlights
Some night skate routes may pass through sub-urban areas
which have fewer street lamps. You should have a small
torchlight handy to light up the way. This will help you
avoid falls caused by unseen objects on the ground.
Listen to the Guides!
Night skates are exciting and there are often many distractions
from the environment. Help us ensure your safety and those
of other skaters by always listening to instructions given
by the skate volunteers or instructors who are guiding
the skate. This applies especially to the advanced skaters
who tend to be impetous and want to skate ahead.
Warn others of Hazards
Hazards like cracks, uneven ground and portholes are hard
to spot at night, if you see one, help the skaters behind
you by shouting out the hazard to them. They will appreciate
it and do the same for the skaters behind them.
Skate At Your Own Risk
Participation in SNS consitutes an understanding and acceptance
that Skateline Malaysia Sdn Bhd, its employees and associates
are not liable for any injury, death, loss of property
arising from the event. |
