INLINE SKATING
LESSONS
Why Learn To Skate?
People
skate for fun. It's a physical and mental rush. Taking lessons
in skating is about taking the sport seriously and doing it
the proper way. Skate lessons help to avoid common and potentially
dangerous injuries. It also helps you avoid self-taught bad
habits which take months or years to unlearn.
You
can even progress into one of the more sophisticated disciplines
of skating like Hockey, Speed skating or aggressive skating.
Inline Skating lessons are conducted by professionally trained
Inline Certification Program (ICP)
instructors. The ICP is internationally recognized as a standard
of teaching inline-skating. It is an integral part of the
International Inline Skating Association's(IISA) effort at
promoting safe skating through proper inline skating instruction.
Our instructors know exactly what to do to help total beginners
of all ages pick up the important fundamentals. Even if you
already know how to skate, there's always another skill you
can learn (like skating backwards!). Currently has eleven
ICP certified instructors in Malaysia. They are experienced
working professionals in their own right who happen to love
skating. They are fully qualified to teach you how to skate
in the most effective, safe and fun environment. Ballzaction
proudly present to you the 'Skateline Malaysia' as our partner
in promoting Inline Skating in Malaysia.
So if you are not yet part of the fastest growing sport in
the world, choose from one of our many class plans and start
your skate lifestyle today. If you are already skating and
want to learn more, check out our lesson contents and see
where our instructors can take you further.
Skating
for Fitness:
In-line skating vs. Running
Routine in-line skating produces nearly
the same increase in aerobic fitness than running does.
Muscular Activity Levels
Inline skating creates muscular activity
levels for hips, thighs and shins as running or cycling.
Impact Shock
In-line skating produces less than half
the impact shock to joints that running does.
Leg Muscles
In-line skating strides work leg muscles
for longer time than running strides or cycling crank cycles.
Calorie Burning
In-line skating burns as many calories
as running. |

What
is the Open Class Format?
In the Open Class format, students plan
their own skate lessons, following an overall Monthly Class
Schedule that Skateline will post on its website. You can
choose to go for as many classes in each level as you like,
as long as it follows the Monthly Class Schedule. The validity
of each package that you purchase (Level 1, 2, 3, or 4) is
1 month from the date of the first class taken.
How does it work?
1.
Sign up and pay for skate classes (Level 1-4)
2. Check the
class schedule for your lesson slot, e.g., Level 1 Class 1,
Level 2 Class 3 etc. and arrange your own timetable for the
month
3. On the day
of your class slot, come to Skateline TTDI to sign the attendance
register for the class and to pick up your skates and gear
4. Head to the
class venue (Kiara Park)
5. Take the
lesson!
6. Return the
skates and gear at Skateline TTDI
Why the Open Class Format?
1.
More Value: You can now attend the same class (e.g. Level
1 Class 3) more than once
2.
More Flexibility: You can arrange your lessons to suit your
own calendar
3.
More Quality: Taking more skating sessions will improve your
understanding of the different skate skills and provide
you with more opportunities to brush up on any weak points,
thus making you a better skater
When and Where are Open Classes held?
Open Classes will be held every Saturday
and Sunday, from 4pm to 7pm, at the Kiara Park (next to the
Women’s Institute of Management) in Taman Tun Dr Ismail and
Taman Tasik Titiwangsa. We are currently arranging for more
venues at which you can take your classes, so do stay tuned!

EXAMPLE |
 |
|
|
Mr.
Skatey has just signed up for Level 1 of
Skateline’s Learn-To-Skate Program, under
the Open Class format. He understands that
Level 1 consists of 6 classes:
1. Inline Funstart (IFS) – an orientation
and assessment course
2. Class 1 – Basic Moving
3. Class 2 – Basic Stopping
4. Class 3 – Basic Turning
5. Class 4 – Bonus Skills
6. Level 1 Evaluation |
| |
| He
immediately checks our website for the Monthly
Class Schedule. |
| |
| He
prefers to take skate classes on Saturday,
so he selects Sat 4-5pm for IFS. He then
selects Sat 5-6pm for his Class 1 and Class
2, which would mean that he will be coming
to the park on Saturday from 5-6pm for 2
weeks. Next up would be Class 3 and Class
4, which would be at 4-5pm on Saturday.
After that, he picks Sat 6-7pm as his Level
1 Evaluation slot. |
| |
Mr
Skatey’s time table now looks like this:
Wk 1: Sat 4-5pm : IFS
Wk 2: Sat 5-6pm: Class 1
Wk 3: Sat 5-6pm: Class 2
Wk 4: Sat 4-5pm: Class 3
Wk 5: Sat 4-5pm: Class 4
Wk 6: Sat 6-7pm: Level 1 Evaluation |
| |
| However,
immediately after taking his IFS class,
he realizes that inline skating requires
more practice than he initially thought,
so he decides to take lessons on Sunday
as well, to supplement his Saturday classes. |
| |
For
his Sunday classes chooses:
Wk 1: Sun 4-5pm: IFS
Wk 2: Sun 4-5pm: Class 1
Wk 3: Sun 4-5pm: Class 2
Wk 4: Sun 5-6pm: Class 3
Wk 5: Sun 5-6pm: Class 4 |
| |
| Because
of his dedication to learning skating
well, he passes his Level 1 Evaluation
on his first try! |
